Kiril Treschetka
Kavalerovo, Russia
Kiril is the pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Kavalerovo, north of Vladivostok in the far east of Russia. He is 58 years old and came to Christ in 1990. Kiril and his wife Lyudmilahave two children and six grandchildren. In 1994 he led his whole household to Christ.
He came to the Biblical Theological Seminary with a desire to get help to breathe new life into Presbyterianism in the far east. The Presbyterian movement out there was started by folks who have historic roots to Presbyterianism, but have lost all Reformed traditions and theology. He is a third year student, and will graduate, Lord willing, in March of 2011.
He was supported by an American church for church planting, and when that support ran out SRS kept it up from their own funds. (This is the only case of this happening, a para-church supporting a church plant but Kiril is the de facto Biship of the far east and so SRS could not afford to lose his leadership there by not supporting him.)
The economy north of Vladivostok is based soley on lumber which means it is one of the poorest regions of Russia, but Kiril feels called to minister there partially because that is where his grandchildren live, and partially because his ministry is one of the only Evangelical witnesses in the area.
He leads a small church in Karalevo, and four preaching stations that he visits every month in surrounding villages. He is a true soldier of the Lord, and needs an understanding church to adopt him and give him encouragement and oversight. We don't know if we should encourage him to learn English or not, as his ministry is so demanding and the support he gets is just $600 a month.

The Keys of the Kingdom
Jesus gave the keys of the Kingdom to leaders of the church, promising universal victory to His Church (Matt. 16:18).
In Acts the pattern of church planting indicates that the churches sent men across cultural and national borders to nourish weaker churches and establish new ones (Acts 11-15).
Therefore, it is local churches which are to take the initiative and responsibility in preaching the Gospel to all creation and sending missionaries to plant churches to the ends of the earth.
